You could be forgiven for thinking straightening adult teeth is the same as straightening teeth for children.
Whereas the bones in children are still forming and can be pushed into line with ease, adult bones have already developed and hardened, so need a much softer approach. The appliances used and the techniques are very different. Adult expectations are also different as they normally want more precise tooth movement and definitely NO extractions. Adult teeth are not new and can have signs of wear or previous decay or fractures. That is why an adult ortho patient is advised to be treated by a practice that treats adults only.
